Henry's Haven Cat Rescue

A registered charity rescuing cats in and around West Yorkshire

We're a foster-based rescue run entirely by volunteers, who care for every cat in their own homes until they find their forever family. Based in West Yorkshire, we mainly help cats around Wakefield and Leeds, and further afield when we can. Everything we do is made possible by the kindness of our supporters, so thank you for being here.

Adopt

Thinking of giving a rescue cat their forever home? Here's how adopting from us works.

  1. Fill in an application

Start by completing our adoption application form.

  2. Home check

We'll then carry out a home check with you.

  3. Find your cat

Once your home check is successful, you'll be advised to check the 'Available cats and kittens for adoption' album on our Facebook page.

Please note: cats and kittens can't be reserved until a successful home check has been completed.

Volunteering

Henry's Haven is run entirely by volunteers. Whether you can foster a cat or spare a few hours, we'd love your help.

Foster carer

  • A spare room or area to keep fosters apart from your own cats at first
  • Transport to vet trips, usually one or two per cat
  • Food, litter and flea/worm treatments provided if you need them
  • Patience and plenty of love

Support worker

  • Fundraising: bucket collections, tombolas and events
  • Transport: driving cats into rescue, to the vets and to new homes
  • Trapping and scanning: helping bring in frightened street cats
  • Admin: records, applications, homechecks and social media

Regular or just a few hours here and there, every bit helps.

"I can take in cats in need and get them ready to go to new homes. That to me is reward in itself and that's what makes fostering so special."
